GPT-4 Rumored to be Announced this week: according to Microsoft Germany CTO Andreas Braun.
It is rumored to be multimodal - if so, GPT-4 could be applied to visual IQ tests, speech recognition, image understanding and more
Users may also be able to manage the input and output of data in different languages
It may also be better at math
Startups funded by OpenAI are already using GPT-4

Visual ChatGPT - ChatGPT just learned how to see: “a conversational photoshop”. Microsoft has plugged ChatGPT into image and visual foundation models to enable a chatbot that generates, edits and explains images from text prompts. Multimodal AI is here - AI can now take input and output text and images and video and audio.
Discord rolls out AI experiences: they are (1) updating their Clyde bot with ChatGPT technology, (2) updating their AutoMod moderation tool to harness the power of LLMs (to alert moderators when rules have been broken), (3) offering AI-generated conversation summaries. AI continues to integrate into our communication workflows.
Salesforce Announces Einstein GPT, the World’s First Generative AI for CRM: Einstein GPT can generate personalized emails for salespeople to send to customers, generate specific responses for customer service professionals to more quickly answer customer questions, generate targeted content for marketers to increase campaign response rates, and auto-generate code for developers.
General Motors wants to build a ChatGPT assistant into your car: some car owners will soon be conversing with their car on their morning commute - if you have a flat tire, you could ask the car to explain how to change it while it shares an instructional video; you can ask your car to make an appointment at a recommended repair shop.
The semiautomated social network is coming: LinkedIn announced last week it’s using AI to help write posts for users to chat about. Snap has created its own chatbot, and Meta is working on AI ‘personas.’
Google’s Plan to Catch ChatGPT Is to Stuff AI Into Everything: a new internal directive requires “generative artificial intelligence” to be incorporated into all of its biggest products within months.
Baidu Hurries to Ready China’s First ChatGPT Equivalent Ahead of Launch: the time crunch has left some employees uneasy about whether Ernie Bot will meet user or market expectations.
Microsoft Bing hits 100M users: 1/3 of active users of the new Bing preview are completely new to Bing (and being drawn over from rival search engines like Google).

Grammarly introduces GrammarlyGO, generative-AI powered writing: compose text in your own writing style, reply to emails, rewrite for tone and clarity, provide a prompt-space for guidance. GrammarlyGo beta will begin rolling out in April and be included at no extra cost.

Humane, a secretive AI startup, raises another $100M: founded by an ex-Apple design and engineering team, they are building an “integrated device and cloud services platform”. Its investors include Kindred Ventures, Tiger Global, Qualcomm Ventures, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff. How will Humane’s tech find a fit both in the smart home and automotive spaces?

Tech 💻
The State of Competitive Machine Learning: A review of competitive machine learning in 2022, summarizing the state of the competitive landscape and analysis of 200+ competitions that took place in 2022.
Together release 20B parameter OpenChatKit, an open-source version of ChatGPT: a team of ex-OpenAI employees have released an instruction-tuned LLM alternative to ChatGPT, with model weights, model code, and training data fully available. It’s optimized for chat, somehow on 100% negative carbon compute.
Google unveils Universal Speech Model (USM): state of the art speech AI for 100+ languages. SM, which is for use in YouTube (e.g., for closed captions), can perform automatic speech recognition (ASR) not only on widely-spoken languages like English and Mandarin, but also on under-resourced languages like Amharic, Cebuano, Assamese, and Azerbaijani to name a few.
Run state of the art language models on your laptop (GitHub Repo): by taking advantage of the new Apple neural computing system, you can run the LLaMA models on m1 and m2 computers.
